Jungle All the Way: Opening Day on the Jingle Cruise

The holiday overlay is back at Magic Kingdom, and the skippers wasted no time delivering the puns. We rode it today when it opened—here’s what it feels like right now.

The boats were already dressed for the holidays when we stepped into the queue this morning. Lights on the thatched roofs, a candy-cane “i” in the Jingle Cruise sign, and that familiar scent of river water mixed with fresh garland. Jingle Cruise officially returned today, November 3, and it will stay through January 4, 2027. After that the regular Jungle Cruise slides right back into place.

Inside the attraction the skippers have done what they always do—decorated with whatever the jungle (and a few misplaced packages) would allow. You’ll spot the “Jungle All the Way!” banner, presents floating in the river, and the usual cast of characters now wearing Santa hats and scarves. The boats carry their seasonal names: Reindeer Ruby, Candy Cane Connie, Fruitcake Zelda, and the rest of the punny fleet.

But the real show is still the skipper. The holiday script is packed with the same groan-worthy jokes we’ve come to expect, only now they’re wrapped in tinsel.

My favorite of the morning came when we floated past the two alligators. The skipper pointed them out and warned us to keep our distance—“because Ginger snaps and Frost bites.” The whole boat laughed. It’s the kind of line that only works when someone delivers it with perfect deadpan timing from the back of a boat, and today it landed perfectly.

The ride itself still runs about ten minutes. The rivers of the world are all there—Amazon, Congo, Nile, Mekong—only now they’re strung with lights and little homemade ornaments. At night the whole thing glows.

Some last little details we loved were the snowman and festive thatched hut with string lights and jungle garland on Jingle Cruise below.

If you have a weekday pass and can get there early, the first few days before Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party fully ramps up are a sweet window.
