Why We Love Disney World After Hurricane Irma

This week we finally got some good weather after Hurricane Irma… which means it's a great time to go to Disney World. Thanks to Disney… we were able to enjoy a nice distraction from the recent destruction we all encountered.

The first place we head to is Haunted Mansion. While walking past Cinderella's Castle, we noticed several downed trees from Hurricane Irma, but thankfully no damage to the iconic castle itself.

The Beauty and the Beast Castle also had some damaged and broken trees. But again, nothing was destroyed as far as the castle or rides themselves. Thankfully.

On to Haunted Mansion we go, our favorite ride of all time. We were about as excited as children to get on a Disney ride, especially this one. Oh to hear "foulish mortals" was a nice escape from Irma.

Upon exiting, we did notice some damage to the Pet Cemetery however... uprooted trees and fallen tombs. Perhaps Disney World should leave this alone -- kind of a nice effect don't you think?

The lines were short all week, sometimes only 5 - 10 minute waits on many of the popular Disney World rides such as Ariel, It's A Small World, Space Mountain and more.

As a whole, we were pleasantly surprised to see very little hurricane damage to Disney. Many of our neighbors, ourselves included, have suffered damage to our homes. We were thankful that we live so close to Disney World to enjoy the much needed distraction, perishable food, air conditioning, and fresh water.

Disney World... we love and appreciate you now more than ever. And September 2017 will be forever in our memories.

xoxo,
