Indulging in Autumn Magic: Fall Delights at The Cake Bake Shop in Walt Disney World

It's my birthday today and what better way to spend it then at The Cake Bake Shop! We are no strangers to this lovely dining experience. It's probably our fifth or sixth visit this year alone. But, that's only because we love it so much.

As the leaves turn shades of amber and crimson, and a crisp breeze sweeps through the resort, Walt Disney World transforms into a cozy haven of fall festivities. For me, no visit feels complete without a sweet detour to The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers at Disney's BoardWalk. Tucked along the waterfront promenade, this enchanting patisserie and restaurant isn't just a spot for decadent treats—it's a portal to a storybook world where French-inspired elegance meets Disney's whimsical charm.

This fall, as we bid farewell to Halloween's haunts and gear up for the holiday sparkle, The Cake Bake Shop is serving up seasonal magic through its stunning decorations and irresistible menu. If you're planning a trip (or just daydreaming about one), here's why this spot should top your itinerary.

A Patisserie Wrapped in Seasonal Whimsy

Step through the ornate French doors of The Cake Bake Shop, and you're immediately enveloped in an atmosphere that's equal parts Parisian salon and fairy-tale dream. The venue's signature decor—sparkling crystal chandeliers, antiqued mirrors, and plush, French-inspired furniture—sets the stage for indulgence. But come autumn, Gwendolyn Rogers' team layers on the seasonal touches that make it feel like a page from a harvest-themed storybook.

Imagine gilded pumpkins perched on marble counters, garlands of faux autumn leaves in deep oranges, golds, and burgundies draping the tabletops, and subtle nods to the season like cinnamon-scented candles flickering alongside the bakery's signature confections. The air hums with the aroma of baking spices mingling with the rich scent of French chocolate cakes emerging from the ovens.

Outside, the BoardWalk itself echoes this vibe: string lights twinkling against the evening sky, hay bales and cornstalks lining the paths, and the distant hum of EPCOT's fireworks adding a magical soundtrack.

What I love most is how the decorations are elevated and subtly say 'fall'.

Early in the season, you'll spot playful Halloween accents—like black-and-orange macarons displayed in glass cloches—but by mid-November, the focus shifts to harvest elegance. Porcelain figurines, such as the soft blue-grey Brûlée swan (a fan favorite for its versatility as both a serving piece and a decorative accent), take on new life when paired with fall florals. It's not over-the-top; it's refined whimsy that invites you to linger over a coffee or cocktail while watching boats glide across Crescent Lake. Pro tip: Visit at dusk for the golden hour glow—the whole scene feels like it's straight out of a Disney animated film.

The Fall Menu: Layers of Flavor and Fantasy

If the decor lures you in, it's the menu that keeps you (and your taste buds) enchanted. The Cake Bake Shop's offerings are a love letter to Gwendolyn Rogers' passion for multi-layered cakes and elevated pastries, with seasonal twists that scream "fall in Florida."

Prices skew luxurious—think around $22+ for cake slices—but the portion sizes and quality justify the splurge for a special treat. Here's a roundup of what we believe are the "Must-tries" from the 2025 fall lineup, blending classics with limited-time autumn stars.

Signature Cakes with a Harvest Glow:

  • Southern Style Caramel Cake: This fall newcomer steals the show. Six layers of moist vanilla buttermilk cake, each brushed with Madagascar vanilla bean syrup, are crowned with silky brown sugar caramel cream and handmade caramel shards. It's like biting into a caramel apple pie, but infinitely more sophisticated. The caramel drizzle evokes bonfire nights, and the subtle spice notes make it a perfect post-fireworks indulgence.

  • Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake: Arriving hot on the heels of Halloween (and lingering into November), this creamy dream layers spiced pumpkin cheesecake over a ginger snap crust, topped with whipped cream and candied pecans. If you're a PSL devotee, this is your elevated match—rich, not cloying, and paired beautifully with a hot cider from the adjacent bakery case.

  • Lemon Blueberry Cake Slice: Not strictly "fall," but the fresh blueberries and zesty lemon curd cut through the season's heavier flavors like a refreshing breeze. Filled with lemon buttercream and topped with more berries, it's a bright counterpoint to the caramel-heavy menu.

What I Had and Why The Cake Bake Shop is Fall's Sweetest Stop

I ordered my favorite soup, the chicken velvet soup, with a chicken salade croissant. Both are divine and when you pair it with a teapot of their anachai tea, you're in heaven. To top it off for my birthday, my daughter and I shared the pumpkin spice cinnamon roll cake as you can see below:

In a resort bursting with options, The Cake Bake Shop stands out for its ability to blend nostalgia with novelty. The fall decorations create a cocoon of warmth amid the perpetual Florida sunshine, while the menu reminds us that indulgence is an art form.

And if you're like me, you'll leave with a swan souvenir tucked in your tote—because a little piece of this whimsy deserves to come home with you.
