Disney Day in History: July 14th

On this day in 1994, the very first Walt Disney World Wine Festival took place from July 14–16 at the Yacht and Beach Club Convention Center. It was a celebration of fine wines, gourmet food, and the magic of Disney.

The inaugural event featured wines from California and a few international wineries, along with gourmet pairings and tastings. Early attendees enjoyed dishes such as herb-crusted lamb, seafood specials, and decadent desserts, paired with a variety of reds, whites, and sparkling wines. It was a more intimate affair compared to today’s massive Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, but it laid the foundation for what would become a beloved annual tradition.

Fun fact: The first festival helped spark Disney’s growing reputation as a destination for food and wine lovers, eventually evolving into the large-scale celebration we enjoy today.

Cheers to Disney’s love of celebration and good times!
